Professors Who Deliberately Shake the Faith of Our Children

By Ken Ham - answersingenesis.org
“What should teachers say to religious students who doubt evolution?” That’s the title of a recent Scientific American article—and considering the publication, we know already that the answer will be in support of evolutionary ideas!
The author, John Horgan, who is the Director of the Center for Science Writings at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, answered this question with (unsurprisingly) an affirmation of evolutionary ideas. But what I thought was important to point out was his clear mission to challenge students’ religious beliefs.
Now, Horgan teaches college classes on topics in science, the humanities, and social sciences. He wrote the following about one of his class assignments:
I asked both classes to write a paper on the following question: Why do you think Darwin’s theory of evolution still encounters so much opposition today? I encouraged the students to personalize their responses—that is, to discuss how they reconciled their own faith, if any, with evolutionary theory.
Horgan’s entire assignment is clearly biased toward evolutionary ideas (and as I discuss in my bestselling book The Lie: Evolution/Millions of Years, everyone has a bias). You see, his questions assume the truth of millions of years and evolution, and his follow-up statement assumes that students will have found a way to mix evolutionary ideas with their faith.
Well, Horgan read the papers and found that a significant portion of his students (sadly, not the majority) found it impossible to mix evolution with Scripture. Of course, this led him to ask the question: “What should teachers say to religious students who doubt evolution?”—and to supply his own evolutionary answers.
In the process of reaching an answer, Horgon lists all the supposed evidence for evolution, while also admitting that there are many questions the evolutionary worldview cannot answer. But his conclusion is revealing: “I feel a bit queasy, I admit, challenging their faith, from which some of them derive great comfort. . . . On the other hand, if I don’t prod these young people into questioning their most cherished beliefs, I’m not doing my job, am I?”
So, Horgon’s agenda is clear: he wants students to question and ultimately reject the Bible’s history of the universe. You see, this is just another example of the challenges our children will likely face when they enter college (or even at a public high school). Many professors are out to deliberately shake the faith of our children, which is why our children need to learn how to answer these skeptical questions and attacks. Parents, if you’re in the process of choosing a college for your child to attend, I urge you to read our book Already Compromised (of which I am a co-author), and to check out our list of colleges that have affirmed in writing the Answers in Genesis statement of faith at www.CreationColleges.org.
As sad it as is, the truth is that even at many so-called Christian colleges, students will encounter professors like Horgan. Your college-age children, whether they realize it or not, are still quite impressionable, still actively forming their beliefs and values, still deciding what they will accept and what they will reject. Be sure you continue to feed their hunger for truth with God’s truth as they move away from home.
Accordingly, through the next two years we will be launching many initiatives to reach children and teens with the truths of the Bible, and to rescue them from the secularists. The overall theme will be “Standing Our Ground, Rescuing Our Kids.answersingenesis.org

  1. Shang Dynasty Chinese emperor Ching Tang is recorded to have begun reign by some in 1747 B.C. by others 1675 B.C., yet he had a 7 year famine matching Joseph's 7 year famine so he definitely was reigning 1704-1697 B.C.

Joseph lived for 110 years 1741-1631 B.C. (Genesis 50:26) Joseph age 30 (Genesis 41:40-46) became governor of Egypt in 1711 B.C. There was 7 years of great harvest and the second year of famine Joseph age 39 in 1702 B.C. met his father Jacob age 130 (Genesis 47:9) in Egypt. Global famine 1704-1697 B.C. (Genesis 41:1-57)

    (1) Jacob brought the starving Hebrew people into Egypt settling near Biblical On (Genesis 41:45) Heliopolis, Egypt in 1702 B.C.

    (2) Starving Hyksos Canaanite chieftain Sheshi lead his people into Avaris, Egypt trading their horses for bread (Genesis 47:13-17) in 1702 B.C. during the world famine. (Genesis 41:57)

    (3) Starving Minoans from Crete also settle in Egypt’s delta in 1700 B.C. Other Minoans migrate to mainland Greece in 1700 B.C. spreading their Minoan culture there.

    (4) Starving Indo-European Sealanders invade Amorite Babylon king Abi-Eshuh 1710-1684 B.C. settling in southern Babylonia in 1700 B.C. Abi-Eshuh dams up the Tigris river trying to starve the Sealanders out.

    (5) Starving Indo-European tribes invade Dravidan dominated India in 1700 B.C. Indo-Europeans destroy the Dravidan Mohenjo-Daro civilizatin in 1700 B.C.

(6)Starving Indo-European tribes invade western China in 1700 B.C. Chinese archaelogist discovered Indo-European mummies in western China. The Indo-Europeans introduced the Chinese to the horse driven chariot. NOTE: Indo-European Kassites were first to use the horse driven chariot attacking Babylon in the reign of Amorite Babylon king Samsu-iluna 1750-1711 B.C. in his 9th year in 1741 B.C. NOTE: Joseph age 30 was given the Egyptian pharaoh’s 2nd chariot in 1711 B.C. (Genesis 41:43)

    (7) Chinese Shang Dynasty very early in the dynasty recorded a 7 year famine verifying Joseph’s account of the 7 year global famine in Egypt. (Genesis 41:57)

    (8) The American agricultural Indians establish the Poverty Point Mound Culture in Louisiana in 1700 B.C. building their first city in North America during the world famine.

    (9) Olmecs migrate into the Yucatan Peninsula in 1700 B.C. Archaeologist state the Olmecs invented plumbing and the Olmecs were interested in water conservtion at this time in world history.

    (10) Joseph’s account of the world famine (Genesis 41:57) is supported by archaelogy and the migrations of ancient people’s in 1700 B.C. Why not pass this information along to people who are interested in ancient history.

  2. The Historic confirmation of Genesis is a thorn in the side of the evolutionists.

  3. Yeman and China both verify the seven year (Genesis 41:30) worldwide famine. (Genesis 41:57)

Archaeologist in Yemen uncovered a marble tablet which revealed a seven year famine took place and archaeologist date the marble tablet to Joseph's lifetime.

Shang Dynasty emperor Cheng Tang (Ching Tang)had a seven year famine in the very beginning of his reign according to the Chinese annals. Cheng Tang reigned while Joseph was alive in Egypt.

Yemen and China confirm: (1)There was a worldwide famine (2) Joseph lived. (3)The Hebrews must have been alive in Egypt while the famine also struck Yemen and China. (4)Babylon Abi-Eshuh 1710-1684 B.C. tried starving out the Indo-European Sealanders during the worldwide famine by daming up the Tigris river.
