Peter’s Passion

In the Scriptures, we see great variety in the Apostles who are gathered around the Lord Jesus. There is the impulsive Peter, and the reasoning Thomas. There are some like Simon Zelotes who are never prominent, while others like James and John are always in the foreground.
Peter is singled out as a leader from the beginning, and so continues throughout. He is notable for making mistakes, and consequently in suffering rebukes. He possessed a passionate nature that was ready to act—and often fail. But such a nature would also be quick to express affection, and would receive affection in return. This course of events reached a pinnacle when Peter denied the Lord and was then brought back into fellowship with Him. His repeated failures brought Peter from a condition of weak, ignorant, self-confidence to a better understanding of himself, and a closer, more dependent walk with his Savior.
In the book of Acts he is the stirring, leading one still. He instructs the rest in the mystery of Judas’ lost apostleship and the taking of his office by another. He preaches on the day of Pentecost, and again on the occasion of the healing of the lame beggar at the gate of the Temple. He answers the challenges of the rulers. He is put into prison. He maintains the purity of the house of God by the judgment of Ananias and Sapphira.
He travels extensively, and in the distant parts of Lydda and Saron he comforts the saints by the raising of Tabitha. He then goes to Caesarea, to gather the first converts among the Gentiles. After this, he establishes the hearts of his brethren in Jerusalem by recounting the hand of God on his ministry.
At last, he is cast into prison a second time, but brought forth through the sovereign intervention of God. Other incidents mark the special place which this dear man held among the Apostles. Each of them might well afford a distinct meditation for the profit of our souls: his walking for a little moment on the water, his word to the collector of the tribute-money, his cutting off the ear of the High Priest’s servant in the garden, and others. But I trust these few will give us an appreciation for the character of this remarkable man, Peter.

How Shall We Then Live – Part II

As we continue to look at The Sermon on the Mount as recorded by the Apostle Matthew, we are reminded almost daily of some new failure on the part of the American Government. Many on all sides of the Political spectrum are commenting about the almost daily report of some new revelation of Government run amuck. Now we are seeing the unraveling of the Iraqi Government and, unbelievably, we are also seeing statements coming from the Obama administration indicating an effort to partner with Iran to help Iraq! The continuing saga of the internal revenue scandal gets more and more bizarre weekly, as day after day more and more items are revealed where the Obama administration has simply refused to abide by Constitutional mandates, from budgets to appointments to key positions. Even the U.S. Supreme Court has struck down some of the most recent unbelievably arrogant refusals to abide by United States Constitutional law. The crisis over immigration has resulted from the consistent refusal of the Obama administration to follow the present immigration laws. Nevertheless, as we have come to realize, the real problem lies at the feet of God’s people. We are the ones who must humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways; we are the ones who must pray and seek God’s face. We are the ones who must seek “to pursue holiness” and to walk in “righteousness and true holiness.” We must preach the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. The ungodly will not! We must!
  • Holiness – Not Happiness
The very first chapter of Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus makes it clear that we have been saved unto holiness! Not happiness! Paul wrote to Titus explaining our call to holiness by saying:  “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself his own peculiar people zealous for good works.” (Titus 2:11-14)
  1. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted (Matthew 5:4)
Jesus had begun to teach the eternal truths set forth in The Sermon on the Mount by telling the people (and us) “Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven”. The kingdom of Heaven is only for them. As we looked at what it means to be poor in spirit we came to understand that it involves the emptying of one’s self. The denying of self! It is, in a sense, spiritual bankruptcy. I must stop thinking about what others are thinking about me, or of what others are thinking about what I am thinking about. I just don’t think of myself at all! Here, as we begin to look at the condition of mourning, we ultimately see that “mourning” is a true hatred of, and mourning for, our own sin, as well as the sin of others. There seems to be a distinct absence of mourning in the life of the Christian church today. Many teach that we should be “happy, happy, happy”, all the time. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones said in the mid-fifties that “the most striking characteristic of the Christian church [then] was “alas its superficiality”.
It is this superficiality, this glibness or joviality that results in people trying to appear to be something that they are not. It seems to be a characteristic of men who are in positions to shepherd the flock of God who attempt to put on a happy face and pretend that all is well. To the contrary, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones in his great study on The Sermon on the Mount said that “every revival proves clearly that men who are outside the church always become attracted [to Christ] when the church herself begins to function truly as the Christian church, and as individual Christians approximate to the description here given in these beatitudes.”(Studies in The Sermon on the Mount Vol. 1 pg 54)
Mankind invariably is attracted to Christ and His Church when the true correct Godly preaching of the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed from the church. Indeed, in Paul’s letter to the Church at Corinth, he says that even the preaching of the Gospel if done with wisdom of words or, as the ESV puts it “words of eloquent wisdom” can render the Gospel powerless. (1 Cor. 1:17) Indeed, it is the Gospel of Christ that convicts sinners. Conviction of necessity must precede conversion.
  2. To Mourn
To “mourn” is something that follows of necessity from being “poor in spirit”. Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones said “as I confront God and His Holiness and contemplate the life that I am meant to live, I see myself and my utter helplessness and hopelessness. I discover my quality of spirit and immediately that makes me mourn.” This “mourning” takes us into the experience that Paul describes in the seventh chapter of Romans. We have to begin to ask ourselves “what is it in me that makes me behave like that?” I know that I should not be irritable so why am I? I know that I should not be bad tempered, but why can I not control myself? What happens is that as we go through this we discover this war in our members and we hate it. We mourn because of it. I come to the place where, like Paul, I hate my sin, I mourn my sin, and I exclaim as Paul exclaimed, “Oh’ wretched man that I am who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ my Lord.”
  3. The Raging War
Thus, the Apostle Paul himself, speaking of himself, states clearly in Romans chapter 7 that “the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” Nevertheless, the Apostle laments the difficulty that he has as a Christian man, obeying the law. Paul states the following:
“Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. Oh wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:13-24)
Thus Paul identifies the fact that there is a war going on within us. In Galatians 5:17 we see expressed clearly the following:
“For the flesh lusts (or wars) against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.”
As Paul clearly states in the epistle to the Church at Galatia, we can overcome this war by walking in the spirit and thus we shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Notice that this does not allow us topretend that all is well. We are never to put on appearances. We are indeed to be serious, thoughtful, diligently studying the word of God that we might rightly divide the word of truth. Therefore, don’t pretend—pray!
Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones in this studies in The Sermon on the Mount, says that the man who mourns is “… always serious; but he does not have to affect the seriousness. The true Christian is never a man who has to put on an appearance of either sadness or joviality…. He is a serious, sober minded man. … The Christian is not superficial in any sense, but is fundamentally serious and fundamentally happy. You see, the joy of the Christian is a holy joy, the happiness of the Christian is a serious happiness. None of that superficial appearance of happiness and joy!... Indeed, he is like our Lord himself, groaning, weeping, and yet ‘for the joy that was set before him’ enduring the cross, despising the shame.” Therefore we must keep our eyes on Jesus! “Seek those things that are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of the Father.”
  1. Be Followers of God
The Apostle Paul, in his inspired letter to the Church at Ephesus, calls ALL Christians to be followers of God. The English Standard Version reports this call thus:
“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But sexual immorality and ALL impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which is out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is an idolater) has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”(Ephesians 5:1-5 ESV)
The Apostle points out here that the very ones to whom he is writing were at one time “darkness” but now are “Children of Light in the Lord”. In his first letter to the Church at Corinth in the sixth chapter, Paul says almost the same thing  regarding  the fact that “the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God” and concludes “And such were some of you. But you are washed, you are sanctified, you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Cor 6:11 ESV) What about you? Are you washed, sanctified, and justified in the blood and name of the Lord Jesus Christ? Are you rather still playing the game? Are you an imitator of God, walking in love, or are you still toying with sexual immorality, crude jokes, or covetousness? Wanting more something? Did you realize that covetousness is idolatry? Covetousness is a most grievous sin indeed! We must “mourn” our sin, and the sin of others, if we have been raised with Christ. There can be no fellowship between “Light and Darkness”. Do you know that Jesus, who knew no sin, the perfect spotless Lamb of God, became sin for you, that you may be the righteousness of God in Him? We must hear the content of the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ and “mourn” our sin and repent therefrom by surrender of our will to God’s will, and place our trust in Jesus totally for our salvation. Have you done that? If not, do so now—today. Therefore, the second of the beatitudes says “blessed are those who mourn for they should be comforted” all Christians are to be this way. This is not an artificial thing, it is produced by the spirit of God. It is the result of hating sin—first in ourselves, as well as others.
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ that great shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the everlasting covenant help you to grow in the grace of mourning, that you may be comforted. Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.
Your friend and brother in Christ,
Daniel (Bill Gray)

How Global Policy Becomes Local

I first issued the following article in 2005. Since that time, planning groups like the American Planning Association and other Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are involved in implementing sustainable development across the nation, vigorously deny that their programs have anything to do with the United Nations or Agenda 21. And they have gone on the attack through a variety of hit pieces and articles in major news magazines to label those of us fighting Agenda 21 as just kooky conspiracy theorists. Their main argument is that Agenda 21 is a “soft law” policy that has no enforcement capability. “It’s just voluntary,” they insist over and over again. “There are no blue helmeted troops at city hall,” they sarcastically proclaim. But who needs UN troops when they have the NGO shock troops? The following article clearly shows how they target and enlist local mayors to “voluntarily” thrust their agenda on the hapless, voiceless citizens of their communities. Of course, once the mayors “voluntarily” signed these agreements, the NGO storm troopers were there to assure they kept their promise.    This is how it’s done. TAD
In June 2005, the city of San Francisco was the site of an international conference called “World Environment Day.” But the agenda of this conference was much bigger than just another “hippy dance” in the park. This meeting of the global elite had a specific target and an agenda with teeth. The goal was the full implementation of the U.N.’s Agenda 21 policy and Sustainable Development. This time, the target audience was our nation’s mayors. The U.N.’s new tactics on full display at this conference is to ignore federal and state governments and go straight to the roots of American society. Think globally – act locally.
As part of their participation in the conference, mayors were pressed to commit their communities to specific legislative and policy goals by signing a slate of United Nations accords. Two documents were presented for the mayors’ signatures.
The first document was called the “Green Cities Declaration,” a statement of principles which set the agenda for the mayors’ assigned task. It says, in part, “Believing as Mayors of cities around the globe, we have a unique opportunity to provide leadership to develop truly sustainable urban centers based on culturally and economically appropriate local actions…” The Declaration was amazingly bold in that it details exactly how the U.N. intends to implement a very specific agenda in every town and city in the nation. The document includes lots of rhetoric about the need to curtail greenhouse gases and preserve resources. But the final line of the Green Cities Declaration was the point of the whole affair: “Signatory cities shall work to implement the following Urban Environment Accords. Each year cities shall pick three actions to adopt as policies or laws.”
The raw meat of the agenda was outlined in detail in the second document, called the “Urban Environment Accords.” The Accords include exactly 21 specific actions (as in Agenda 21) for the mayors to take, controlled by a timetable for implementation.
Here’s a quick look at a few of the 21 agenda actions called for. Under the topic of energy, action item number one calls for mayors to implement a policy to increase the use of “renewable” energy by 10% within seven years. Renewable energy includes solar and wind power.
Not stated in the U.N. documents is the fact that in order to meet the goal, a community would have to reserve thousands of acres of land to set up expensive solar panels or even more land for windmills. Consider that it takes a current 50 megawatt gas-fired generating plant about 2-5 acres of land to produce its power. To create that same amount of power through the use of solar panels would require at least 1,000 acres. Using windmills to generate 50 megawatts would require over 4,000 acres of land, while chopping up birds and creating a deafening roar. The cost of such “alternative” energy to the community would be vastly prohibitive. Yet, such unworkable ideas are the environmentally-correct orders of the days that the mayors were being urged to follow.
Energy Actions two and three deal with the issue of reducing energy consumption. Both of these are back- door sneak attacks by the U.N. to enforce the discredited Kyoto Global Warming Treaty, which President Bush refused to implement. Kyoto would force the United States to reduce its energy consumption by at least 30 percent, forcing energy shortages and severely damaging the nation’s economy. Kyoto is the centerpiece of the U.N.’s drive to control the world economy and redistribute wealth to Third World nations. It would do nothing to help the environment. Yet, the mayors are being pushed to help implement this destructive treaty city-by-city.
Perhaps the most egregious action offered in the Urban Environmental Accords deals with the topic of water. Action #Twenty calls for adoption and implementation of a policy to reduce individual water consumption by 10% by 2020. Interestingly, the U.N. begins by stating: “Cities with potable water consumption greater than 100 liters per capita per day will adopt and implement policies to reduce consumption by 10 percent by 2015.”
One must be aware that 100 liters equals about 26 gallons per person, per day. According to the U.N., each person should only have 10% less than 26 gallons each day to drink, bathe, flush toilets, wash clothes, water lawns, wash dishes, cook, and more.
However, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, Americans need about 100 GALLONS per day to perform these basic functions. The use of the 100 LITERS vs 100 GALLONS is a direct attempt to mislead and actually cut water consumption by 75%.
Consider also that there is no specific water shortage in the United States. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, annual water withdrawal across the nation is about 407 billion gallons, while consumption (including evaporation and plant use, is about 94 billion gallons. Such restrictions, as outlined in the Urban Environment Accords, are really nothing more than a major campaign by the U.N. to control water consumption. Yet, the nation’s mayors are being pushed to impose policies to take away our free use of water. Water is not an international issue – but a very local one.
The rest of the Accords deal with a variety of subjects including waste reduction, recycling, transportation, health, and nature. Perhaps the most blatant promise of action is Action number sixteen in which the mayors are supposed to agree to “Every year identify three products, chemicals, or compounds that are used within your city that represents the greatest risk to human health and adopt a law to eliminate their sale and use in the city.”
There you have it. Every year, our nation’s mayors are to promise to ban something! What if there isn’t a “chemical or compound” that poses a risk? Gotta ban something anyway. That’s not an idle threat. In the 1990’s Anchorage, Alaska had some of the most pristine water in the nation. It had no pollution. Yet, the Federal Government ordered the city to meet strict federal clean water standards that required it to remove a certain percentage of pollution. In order to meet those requirements, Anchorage was forced to dump fish parts into its pristine water so that it could then clean out the required quotas. Your city’s mayor may have to ban the ink in your fountain pen to meet his quota – and ban it he will.
And what is the mayor’s reward for destroying private property rights, increasing energy costs on less consumption, and banning something useful every year? He gets green stars. That’s right. According to U.N. documents, if your mayor can complete 8-11 of the prescribed 21 actions, the town will get a green star and the designation, “Local Sustainable City.” 12-17 actions completed will garner two green stars and the designation, “National Sustainable City.” 15-18 actions completed will bring in three green stars and the title “Regional Sustainable City.” Finally, the energizer bunny mayor who gets 19-21 actions completed will get a full four green stars and the ultimate designation of “Global Sustainable City.” Certainly he or she will also get a plaque and get to sit at the head table at the next U.N. Sustainable Development conference.
In the San Francisco summit, the mayors were wooed by the elite, from U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, to Maurice Strong, to Senator Diane Feinstein, to Hollywood activists Robert Redford and Martin Sheen, to Chimp master Jane Goodall. All the usual suspects were there to press the flesh and push the agenda. Businesses like Mitsubishi, which hopes to make huge profits from green industry with its government subsidies and taxpayer grants, helped pay for the event. The news media was well represented too, not in a journalistic role to report the news, but as full-fledged sponsors helping to spread their own brand of propaganda. All understood that a new governing elite, elected by no one, answerable to their own set of standards, is being created for the care and feeding of us all. With the right contacts and the proper show of public spirit, there are riches and power to be created. Even for your local mayor.
Sustainable Development is truly stunning in its magnitude to transform the world into feudal-like governance by making nature the central organizing principle for our economy and society. It is a scheme fueled by unsound science and discredited economics that can only lead modern society down the road to a new Dark Age. It is a policy of banning goods and regulating and controlling human action. It is systematically implemented through the creation of non-elected visioning boards and planning commissions. There is no place in the Sustainable world for individual thought, private property or free enterprise. It is the exact opposite of the free society envisioned by this nation’s founders.
Even before the San Francisco conference, the U.N.’s influence over the nation’s mayors had been felt as 132 U.S. mayors moved to implement the Kyoto Treaty in defiance of the Bush Administration’s rejection of it. Moreover, the treaty was the centerpiece of the agenda for the national meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, slated for Chicago just one week after the San Francisco meeting. Think globally and act locally is no longer just a slogan on the back of a Volvo. It’s a well-entrenched national policy bleeding down into your local community, carried there by Judas goats who have been elected by you.
America’s mayors are the elected representatives closest to the people. They are the ones that our founders intended to have the most influence over our daily lives. If the U.N. succeeds in its efforts to enforce Sustainable Development policy through our mayors, the process will accelerate at an astounding rate and locally-controlled government will cease to exist. But signs, adorned with green stars, will certainly greet us at every city limit line as the inhabitants, stripped of their property rights; buried under huge tax burdens; struggling under reduced energy flow, shuffle on as their proud mayor gleams in the global limelight under the banner “think globally and act locally.”

Evangelism as a Practice, Not a Program

“What does your church do for evangelism?”
A few years ago, when I was an outreach pastor at Grace Church in Los Angeles, I was at a meeting with a group of outreach pastors from other large churches in the country. The topic was what our churches do to transform our communities. When the question about what we “do for evangelism” was lobbed my way, I knew what the expected answer would look like: a list of programs. People around the table, many of them pastors at some of the most extreme program-driven and seeker-sensitive churches in the country, looked over to me. They were curious about what Pastor MacArthur’s church does to impact our community.
“What does your church do for evangelism?” the man repeated.
“We evangelize,” I answered.  As the group laughed, thinking I was joking, it occurred to me that my answer was more profound that I had intended.
A healthy philosophy of evangelism hinges on the idea that evangelism is not only a program. A church does not transform a community through activates and events. In fact, church sponsored programs generally do not produce results. Instead of converts, they produce administrative tasks, and add an additional burden on the pastor of trying to get people to attend. One of the biggest mistakes pastors make in the area of evangelism is trying to measure their church’s faithfulness to the great commission by the number of (or attendance at) outreach events. This makes evangelism a guilt-laden endeavor, and also unnecessarily weds it to programs which in all likelihood don’t produce converts anyway.
There is a better way. Pastors should realize that a church impacts its community through the lives of its members. As believers are faithful in evangelism in their individual lives, the kingdom is expanded. All believers are to be active in evangelism. In fact, all four Gospels end with Jesus commanding believers to bring salvation to the lost (Mat 28:19Mark 16:15Luke 24:37John 20:21). Jesus’ last earthly words were another repetition of this same command, to bear witness to the Gospel (Acts 1:8). It is not an overstatement to say that all Christians should be driven by a love for evangelism. After all, it is our mission in life.
Thus, one of the marks of a Christian is a love for evangelism. Everyone of us is in a network of relationships. Our friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors all need the gospel. The most effective evangelism is at this level. When pastors encourage their people to give the gospel to those whom the Lord has already put into their life, they are cultivating evangelism in a much more effective way than spending their time leading evangelistic programs. When a pastor stresses the importance of developing new relationships for the purpose of evangelism, he is reminding his people of why they are on earth: to reach the lost.
A healthy church is marked by a love for evangelism. The congregation is faithful to reach the lost, to share the gospel with strangers, co-workers, neighbors, and friends. How sad would it be if people thought that evangelism was what their church did on Wednesday nights (or whatever other slot a program fits in), rather than what they are privileged to do, Monday though Saturday!
For laypeople: realize that evangelism is the task God has given you. Deliberately develop relationships with those around you for the purpose of giving the gospel. Be bold in sharing your faith. If you are fearful, evangelism gives you the opportunity to trust God for courage. If you are timid, evangelism gives you an opportunity to trust God for confidence. Christians are slaves to Christ, soldiers in his service, and sons of God. Our master, our general, and our Father has given us our orders: to reach the lost with the hope of the Gospel. As Christians, we love what God loves, and God loves the lost. As we become more and more sanctified, we become more and more like Christ. And this growth causes us to grow in our love for those who are still God’s enemies.
i_love_evangelism_poster-r5862e3eca3794d2bb89bf330cd4b8ad0_wvu_8byvr_324A healthy church impacts their community because their members love their neighbors. This love results in us reaching out to the lost, presenting the Gospel to them, and seeing some of them saved. As we do this, our churches grow, and our evangelism results in changed lives. In fact, 2 Corinthians 4:15 says “that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving to the glory of God.” In other words, the more we evangelize, the more God’s grace extends to our community.
Don’t get me wrong: churches should have evangelistic programs and outreaches. Structured events are helpful in evangelism training, street evangelism, visitor follow up, and maximizing opportunities for those particularly gifted in evangelism. A smart pastor will find those who have a particular love for evangelism, and give them specific opportunities to use their gift. But what has consistently produced more fruit than any program is the faithfulness of individuals who express their love for the lost through evangelism.
And this is why it can be simply said that the “what we do for evangelism” is evangelize.

Obama Prepares Pardons for Terrorists

Bill Ayers’ recent appearance on Megyn Kelly’s Fox News program appears to be part of a systematic campaign to whitewash the activities of the communist terrorists who were murdering policemen and FBI agents during the 1960s and 70s, and to set the stage for their release and rehabilitation.
Kelly was unprepared for the interview and failed to consult prominent experts on the case, such as former FBI agent Max Noel. “I’m extremely disappointed, as are a number of us who actually worked the WUO [Weather Underground Organization] case on a daily basis, in your attempt to ‘confront him’ without availing yourself of the knowledge that those of us who actually worked the case could have given you,” Noel said in a message to Kelly. The former FBI agent, who arrested the UNABOMBER and has co-authored a sensational new book [1] about that case, was a member of the Weatherman Task Force in San Francisco, where Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, were operating.
Noel has sensational details about how the Weather Underground constructed its bombs in order to kill people, not just damage property. This information, if publicized on “The Kelly File,” would have exposed Ayers as the crazed and committed communist he truly is. As a result of this glaring omission, Ayers succeeded in coming across as simply an aging “anti-war activist” or “radical” who carried things a little too far with bombings that caused  some property damage but killed no one.
This is as big a lie as Ayers’ claim made to Kelly that he didn’t know Barack Obama very well, even though he helped him launch his political career in Chicago. “I knew him as well as he knew 10,000 other people,” Ayers said. “Today, I wish I knew him much better and I wish he’d listen to me.”
But the evidence indicates that President Obama, or at least his Attorney General Eric Holder, is listening.
Left unsaid on “The Kelly File” show was the critical fact that many of Ayers’ comrades are still in jail or prison, waiting for Democratic politicians such as President Obama and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to grant pardons or clemency. Some have already been released, with no significant press attention devoted to the pattern that is developing.
Ayers and Dohrn could themselves be charged in the Park Police Station case, in which Police Sergeant Brian V. McDonnell was killed. But apparently they are quite confident that this will never happen as long as President Obama and Eric Holder are running the Justice Department.
The insidious campaign of releasing and/or rehabilitating these terrorists has been underway for some time.
It began in 2003 when Kathy Boudin, one of Ayers’ more notorious associates, was granted parole from New York state prison. Boudin had gone to prison for her involvement in an October 20, 1981 armed terrorist assault that left Nyack, New York Police Sgt. Edward O’Grady, Patrolman Waverly Brown and Brinks guard Peter Paige dead.
Taking a cue from the rehabilitation of Ayers himself, who had become a “professor” of education at the University of Illinois, Boudin is now an associate professor [2] at Columbia University’s School of Social Work.
Another Ayers associate, Marilyn Buck, was given early release [3] from federal prison by Attorney General Holder, who was deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration and involved in pardons for members of the Weather Underground at that time. Those released by President Clinton included Linda Evans and Susan Rosenberg, as well as members of the Cuban-supported terrorist group, the FALN. The Obama/Holder Justice Department falsely claimed that Buck had repented for her terrorist ways and called her release medically justified.
The Justice Department intervened last year to release terrorist lawyer Lynne Stewart from a federal prison. She had been sentenced to 10 years in prison for violating the law against supporting terrorism. She had provided illegal support to her client, the “Blind Sheik” Omar Abdel-Rahman, mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Stewart was given a “compassionate release” because it was said that she was suffering from a life-threatening disease. Her “Justice for Lynne Stewart [4]” web page is agitating for the release of more revolutionaries from behind bars.
One of Ayers’ associates released during the Clinton years, Weather Underground terrorist Linda Evans, recently spoke at a function hosted by the Cuban embassy in Washington, D.C., where she called on the assembled activists to urge Obama to release not only identified Cuban intelligence operatives in prison—members of the so-called “Cuban Five”—but also Puerto Rican terrorists like Oscar Lopez Rivera.
“We have some opportunities coming up for our federal prisoners, I believe, because of Obama and the fact that it’s going to be his second and last term,” she has said. “And we need to create campaigns and participate in existing campaigns that can really take advantage of that. Some of our political prisoners are in federal custody.”
This is the most open and honest admission of what they are doing on a national level.
One of those prisoners is convicted killer Leonard Peltier, who is serving two consecutive life sentences for the execution-style murders of FBI Special Agents Jack Coler and Ronald Williams in 1975. Former FBI agent Max Noel told me that he is concerned that Peltier might get a pardon from Obama because of the pressure campaign [5] mounted by Hollywood and the far left on his behalf.
A big push is also underway for clemency for Joanne Chesimard, a convicted cop-killer now living in Cuba under the protection of the Castro regime. A member of the Black Liberation Army, she had worked closely with Marilyn Buck and the Weather Underground.
Judith Clark, a member of the Weather Underground and its spin-off, the May 19 Communist Organization, has a dedicated group of supporters with important media connections, and they are working feverishly on her behalf. Clark was sentenced to three consecutive terms of 25-years-to-life, totaling 75 years in prison, for her role in the Brinks robbery and murders near Nyack, New York. The New York Times Magazine ran a story urging New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to release her from state prison. The “Friends of Judith Clark [6]” have set up a web page and Facebook page [7] in her honor, featuring the Times story.
David Gilbert of the Weather Underground is another cold-blooded killer and Ayers associate waiting for a pardon from either Cuomo or Obama. He also went to prison for his role in the Nyack assault. His book, No Surrender: Writings from an anti-imperialist political prisoner, includes an endorsement on the back cover from Ward Churchill, the disgraced college professor who achieved notoriety for comparing 9/11 victims to Nazis.
In another strange twist to this ongoing story of how Obama and Holder are perverting the legal system in order to benefit crooks and criminals, it has been disclosed that charges againstElizabeth Ann Duke [8], a fugitive from justice considered “armed and dangerous” by the FBI, have been dismissed. Duke is yet another associate of Bill Ayers, notorious for her involvement with the May 19th Communist Organization and charged in the bombing of the U.S. Capitol, among other crimes.
Legal activist Montgomery Blair Sibley has filed several motions in the case [9], attempting to determine the details of how the improper and illegal order of dismissal of the indictment of Elizabeth Ann Duke was arranged. He believes that the Obama administration got a judge to dismiss the charges in return for lenient treatment for the judge’s son in a federal drug case.
Donna Joan Borup [10] is another fugitive anticipating leniency. In a radio broadcast [11] about the case in 2013, the FBI noted that Borup, also considered armed and dangerous, became violent during a demonstration at JFK International Airport in Queens in September 1981 and tossed a caustic substance into the eyes of a Port Authority police officer who was on duty at the time. The officer was left partially blinded.
The FBI notes that “Borup was a member of the May 19th Communist Organization—a Marxist-Leninist group advocating the armed revolution and overthrow of the United States government.” This group served as a public support apparatus for the Weather Underground. Neither of them was an “anti-war” organization.
It’s likely that Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn know the locations of Borup and other fugitives. But it’s just as likely that Ayers would not have divulged the information even if asked about it on “The Kelly File.”
One of the biggest flaws in “The Kelly File” show was the claim that the FBI botched the investigations and prosecutions of Ayers and Dohrn, when the evidence shows that the terrorists managed to avoid responsibility for most of their crimes because the Jimmy Carter Justice Department indicted and charged FBI officials with violating the civil rights of the terrorists and their associates. Recognizing the political prosecution of the FBI officials as a terrible miscarriage of justice, President Reagan would later pardon them.
The Obama/Holder Justice Department is picking up where Jimmy Carter left off. And now the terrorists who did go to jail—or who face jail time—are looking for pardons.
A pattern is clearly developing whereby associates of Ayers and Dohrn are getting sympathetic attention from the White House and the Justice Department as they seek to escape justice for their crimes. The campaign is paying off because the media refuse to pay attention to the motive behind the madness of such appearances of Bill Ayers on Fox News.
On Wednesday, I will be participating in a press conference [12] in Washington, D.C. at the National Press Club to provide details about the effort to get the Obama administration to issue pardons for a series of so-called “political prisoners.”
In this context, the purpose of the Ayers appearance on Fox News was clearly to add impetus to this campaign, creating the impression that these “radicals” may have gone too far, but that it was long ago and the country should let bygones be bygones. One can easily envision an Obama pardon statement to that effect for Ayers’ comrades. Ayers himself may be angling for a Nixon-like pardon, giving him immunity from crimes that may have been committed.
Back in 2008, Obama had said [13], “This guy [Ayers] is not part of my inner circle, he doesn’t advise my campaign, he’s not going to advise me as president.” Obama also said about Ayers, “…I assumed that he had been rehabilitated,” a statement at odds with the fact that cold cases such as Park Station are still open and that a federal grand jury can be called to solve the crime.
Tragically, Megyn Kelly permitted Ayers to lie about the late Larry Grathwohl, an FBI informant and Vietnam veteran who had testified about how the Weather Underground killed San Francisco Police Sergeant Brian V. McDonnell in 1970 in the Park Police Station case. Grathwohl, who testified under oath about Ayers’ admission that his wife Bernardine Dohrn had planted the bomb that killed McDonnell, had also documented the ties between the “domestic terrorists” in the Weather Underground and the Cuban intelligence service, the DGI. But Ayers, on the Kelly show, dismissed Grathwohl as a liar who had never infiltrated his group. In fact, the Weather Underground put out a “Wanted” poster on Grathwohl after they found out he was exposing their crimes to the FBI.
“What Bill Ayers said about my father was untrue,” his daughter, Lindsay Grathwohl, told me. “I was very disgusted.” She said that she was “never contacted” by Fox News about the show and that when she reached out to them, she “never received a response.”
It’s time for some serious-minded coverage of these terrorists, who are eager to go on television and present communist disinformation about what they did and who they are. The process of releasing and rehabilitating these terrorists must be exposed and stopped before Obama pulls a Clinton and lets more of these killers back on the streets.
